Getting started
Download Yala, complete the initial setup by choosing your currency and categories, and start logging expenses with photos, voice, or manually.
Accounts & balance
Create accounts for your cash, cards, and savings. Yala calculates your balance automatically with every transaction.
Import & export
Import CSV or Excel files from your bank via the records screen. You can also export all your data at any time.
Subscription & Yala Pro
Yala Free includes everything essential. Yala Pro unlocks unlimited accounts, receipt scanning, voice input, and advanced reports. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple account.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data secure?
Yes. You choose where it lives: on your iPhone and your private iCloud, where we can't read it, or in your Yala cloud account, on our servers. We don't sell data and we don't show ads. All the details are in the Privacy Policy.
Do I need to connect my bank?
No. Yala works without bank connection. You can import CSV/Excel statements or log expenses manually, with Siri shortcuts, or with photos and voice (Pro).
Does it work offline?
Yes. Logging, budgets, charts and widgets work offline. You only need internet to sync (with your iCloud or your cloud account), for Groups, exchange rates and Pro AI features.
Can I import past expenses?
Yes. Import CSV or Excel files from your bank. Yala detects currencies, parses dates and processes the history automatically.
How do photos and voice work?
These are Yala Pro features. Point your camera at a receipt or say "Spent 50 dollars on groceries" and Yala creates the transaction with amount, category and date.
What if I change phones?
It depends on where you keep your data. With your private iCloud it syncs on its own: set up your new iPhone with the same iCloud account and everything will be there. With your cloud account, sign in on the new iPhone with the same Apple or Google account and your data comes back from our servers.
What does Yala Free vs Pro include?
Free includes everything essential: manual logging, Siri shortcuts, 4 accounts, budgets with alerts, widgets, more than 50 currencies and exporting all your data. In the first steps you can try 5 voice notes and 5 photos for free. Pro unlocks unlimited accounts, photos, voice and advanced reports. You can cancel Pro anytime.
What data does Yala AI use?
When you ask it something or have it log an expense, Yala AI sends OpenAI a summary of your financial situation (account balances and names, totals by category, frequent merchants, tags, budgets, and recurring payments) to generate the response. It only happens when you turn it on and give your consent, and, under OpenAI's API policy, it does not use this data to train its models. It is a Pro feature.
Are Groups private?
A group's expenses and balances are only seen by its members. To use Groups you sign in with Apple or Google, and the group is stored on Yala's servers, with the name, aliases, amounts and notes encrypted with a key held by our server. Your email isn't shared with the group, neither is your data outside it, and you can leave a group whenever you want.
