Privacy Policy

1. Your privacy matters

Yala is your personal finance app. Your financial information belongs to you and that's how everything works in Yala. Here we explain transparently how we handle your information.

2. Where your data lives

All your information is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, syncs between your Apple devices.

• ● On your device: Your expenses, accounts, budgets and settings are stored directly on your iPhone or iPad.
• ● No sign-up needed: You don't need to create an account with email or password to use Yala.
• ● No bank connection: Yala doesn't connect to your bank or request banking credentials.

3. iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your data automatically syncs between your Apple devices using Apple's private database. Only you can access it — we don't have access. If you don't have iCloud, everything stays on your device.

4. Yala AI and smart features

Some optional features use artificial intelligence and, to work, send data to OpenAI (our AI provider), only when you turn them on: • Yala AI (chat): to answer your questions and log expenses, we send a summary of your financial situation from the last few months — your account balances and names, totals by category and subcategory, frequent merchants (from your notes), tags, budgets, and recurring payments. It requires your explicit consent the first time. • Voice: your audio recording and the transcribed text. • Images: the photo you select (compressed, without metadata). • Auto-categorization: your category names. OpenAI processes this data only to generate the response and, per its API policy, does not use it to train its models. Processing is one-time; we keep no copies on our own servers. You can use Yala without enabling any AI feature. For exchange rates we query exchangerate.host — only currency codes are sent (e.g., USD, EUR), never your amounts.

5. Groups and shared expenses (Beta)

If you create or join a group, the expenses, balances, and member names are shared with the other members through Apple CloudKit Sharing. That data travels and is stored on Apple iCloud infrastructure — not on our servers. Only group members can see its content; your data outside the group is not shared. Groups is in Beta and you can leave a group whenever you want from the app.

6. Anonymous analytics

To understand which features are most useful and improve your experience, Yala collects anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a European privacy-friendly analytics service. • We only record general actions (e.g., "a transaction was saved", "a budget was created") — never the content of your data (amounts, names, categories). • No device identifier or personal profile is generated. • Data is aggregated and anonymous — neither we nor TelemetryDeck can tell who did what. • It's not shared with third parties or used for advertising. 7. What we DON'T do

• ● We don't sell or share your data with third parties
• ● We don't include advertising
• ● We don't track your activity individually — we only collect aggregated and anonymous usage data
• ● We don't collect device identifiers

8. Your data, your control

You can view, export (CSV or Excel) and delete all your data anytime from the app. If you uninstall Yala, local data is removed. iCloud data can be managed from your device settings.
